David Sommer – President

David Sommer started his career with Germania on December 7, 1978 as an accountant. He became assistant secretary–treasurer in 1986. David was appointed as secretary–treasurer in March 1994, and then was elected as president and chairman of the board in 2000.

David is a native of Brenham and graduated in 1977 from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in accounting.

He is actively involved in several insurance trade associations including Southwestern Insurance Information Service, the Texas Association of Mutual Insurance Companies and the National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies. His current civic commitments include serving as treasurer of the Blinn College Foundation, board member of Hospice Brazos Valley and member of the Brenham Evening Lions Club.

His family includes wife, Beth Ann (Reue) Sommer, children Matthew and Meredith, son–in–law Brad Sommerfield and granddaughter Izabelle Leann. David and Beth are members of Grace Lutheran Church of Brenham.
