David Sommer – President

David Sommer started his career with Germania on December 7, 1978 as an accountant.  He became assistant secretary-treasurer in 1986. David was appointed as secretary-treasurer in March 1994, and then he was elected as president and chairman of the Board in 2000.

David is a native of Brenham and graduated in 1977 from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting.

He is involved in several insurance trade associations and is currently serving as a chairman of the Board of Southwestern Insurance Information Service.  He also serves as a director of the National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies Property Casualty Conference Board, and vice president of the Texas Association of Mutual Insurance Companies.  His civic commitments include serving as a director for Camp For All, and as chairman of the Board of the Blinn College Foundation.
