Beautifying your community . . .now isn’t that a great way to give something back to your community? Well, the Dyess Agency in Rockdale thinks so. With the help of the Downtown Beautification Committee, Chris Dyess and his wife, Mary Lee have been able to beautify the community through a variety of means.
Through the Chamber Chris has helped with fundraising while Mary Lee has been coordinating fundraisers, painting handicap railings, selling park benches, planters and trash cans for the downtown area. Before taking on these projects, they had been focused on restoring an old building which today houses the Dyess Agency. An old building located on Main Street, which dates back to 1877, was once an eye sore to those who walked down the street. Now it has been remodeled, it is large and much more spacious than their previous location. Since it’s remodeling many people stop by the office just to see the building, to appreciate the improvements that have been made. As an agent and business owner the Dyess’ know how important it is to assist their own community and give to their community that has helped them become successful.
